- Hi, my name is Reinhold and photography is my hobby. I learned the darkroom techniques in school and after a very long break I installed a small darkroom at home. When I first heard about developing film with coffee I thought something like: oooh, the world is full of crazy people doing crazy things, but to be honest I regarded it as not more than a funny game. The pictures I saw in the web first confirmed that estimation, but some folks got pretty nice results. So I read more about Caffenol and about the happy union of coffee with vitamin-C. The first film I ever developed in Caffenol-C turned out very good, I was infected. With my humble skills of chemistry I instantly brewed a usable soup, a bit "thicker" than a known "standard" recipe. It turned out to be so good that there was no real need for further experiments. At least for the medium fast 100 ASA films. That's not a game, I am not modest this time, that's state of the art! Competing or even beating every available commercial developer. I do neither use expired films nor secret esoteric ingredients, I like honest BW-pictures and I don't like dusty scans ;-) Best regards - Reinhold

Yes, the story will go on, not so many posts as in the beginning, many questions have been answered, but still some new things to discover.

Last night I developed my first ever roll of film using Caffenol-C-L (Agfa APX @70mins.) Haven't got around to scanning yet but looks good so far. Thank you so much for your inspiration and guidance on your blog. Keep up the good work!
Has anyone tried caffenol with large format? I just found an unopened box of Ektachrome 200 4x5, which expired in 1984 (and not refrigerated, therefore now useless as colour film), so I though I'd give it a go. I plan to use a daylight tank, as I don't have enough darkroom space for regular dunk tanks or trays. Should I use the Medium or High speed recipe? How long would be a good time to start with?
I also just ran across 8 sheets of Tri-X which I shot at 320 about 25 years ago and never processed—any suggestions for that?

Recipes? You are on your own. Good luck. I would use a good restrainer, the films will probably fog as hell. Will it be worth the effort? I doubt.
